Temporary Inlays or Onlays

Temporary Inlays or Onlays

You have just received a temporary inlay that will serve you for a short period of time.  A few comments about this temporary will be helpful to you.

Brushing, Flossing & Cleaning Around the Temporary:

    Brush normally around the temporary.

Do NOT Floss on either side of the temporary.

Use the Chlorhexedine Solution with the cotton applicator tips as we showed you.

Place the solution on the gum areas around the temporary at least twice a day.

Do NOT  Eat for 2 hours.  The temporary requires this time to set properly.

Do NOT  Eat until the Anesthetic wears off. ...anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

If the temporary  breaks or comes out,  PLEASE CALL US and we will replace it.

Temporary inlays are not strong, so try NOT to eat directly on the temporary.

Please Do Not Leave The Temporary Out Of Your Mouth.

If You Do, The Teeth May Move And The Final Inay May Not Fit!

Certain foods will stick to the temporary. This will not happen with the permanent inlay.

Color, Shape, Size:

The color and anatomy of the temporary does not resemble the final inlay in any way.

Tooth Sensitivity:

Temporary inlays may be sensitive to cold, hot or sweet foods. This is not uncommon.

This will not be the case for the final permanent inlay.
